We are serving students ages 6 through 9 this summer, in a small group setting (maximum of 12 students). Small groups are key to building community and allowing our teachers to provide individualized support to all students!
Weekly camp themes vary and include many different STEM-focused activities like SCRATCH Minecraft coding, Nanobot robotics, and simple circuits. See below for a complete description of sessions by week!
Our summer camp is located in Room 211 at the Williamsburg Community Chapel, located at 3899 John Tyler Hwy in Williamsburg, VA. Camps run from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, and campers should bring their own nutritious snacks and lunches. Before care is available from 7:30 am to 8:30 am.
Each week of camp will have two themes: a morning and an afternoon session. Our camp is offered in collaboration with STEAM Works Studio in Princeton, NJ, and campers will enjoy many opportunities for hands-on learning with a variety of STEM topics, as well as lots of movement and play!
Weekly camp tuition is $270, and it includes all material fees for these hands-on workshops and labs! For the short week of July 1-3, camp tuition is $170.
Register for summer camp sessions here! As group sizes are small, summer camps fill up quickly!
Under the Sea & Space Is the Place
Morning sessions: Under the Sea
Learn about life under the sea! Campers will have fun studying different sea creatures through a variety of STEM activities. Build and program a robotic dolphin, create a glowing LED angler fish, and experiment with oil and water to learn how marine mammals stay warm.
Afternoon sessions: Space Is the Place
Space is the place! Learn all about the wonders and mysteries of what lies beyond Earth. Study planets, black holes, stars, and discuss whether alien life is possible. Campers will complete many fun and engaging STEAM projects including LED star circuitry and a robotic Mars rover!
Making LEGO Movies & Pottery
Morning sessions: Making LEGO Movies
Lights, camera, action! Using stop motion animation, campers will create their own mini movie masterpiece! From crafting clay characters, LEGO mini figures and backdrops to painting backgrounds, from editing to story boarding and script writing, these budding Spielbergs will learn all there is about movie making.
Afternoon sessions: Pottery
Using air-dry clay and other bake-free pottery alternatives, younger artists will receive an introduction to sculptural forms with a variety of fun projects perfect for kids. Campers will work with simple projects like clay pinch pots, pencil holders, and fun animal creations that they can decorate, paint, and take home, all while learning about the ancient origins of pottery.
